Twins are said to be identical when they develop from one egg that splits into two embryos. But what makes for perfect twins? Is it the smile, the profile, the expressions, or the moves? That's what TV producers here in London are aiming to find out.

Fatima Felisberti/Face Recognition Expert:

..... We just look at faces, static faces, whether the eyes and the nose and the mouth are exactly identical. But actually when we interact with people we're trying to look at emotions. Whether they express their emotions in identical way, whether they move their mouth in identical way. The dynamic aspect of the face is very important.

The gathering here is a talent search of sorts. The twins will compete to determine who will be the faces of an upcoming advertising campaign. And despite the differences, slight as they may be, most of these twins say they're pretty much the same.

Sophie Duniam/Contestant:

It's weird like. Even though we've got quite edgy looks we both really love the same things.

Polly Duniam/Contestant:

We like the same clothes, we like the same music.

Sophie Duniam:

It's not like I want this haircut so you have to get this haircut. We both like it, So both have it anyway. So kind of works quite well.

Choosing the winners is no easy task. So choreographer John Graham is hoping to get them to just let loose and act natural.

John Graham/Choreographer:

Mostly just like synchronization of their movement. We're gonna keep the dancing simple because we don't want them to think too hard about it. And hopefully just enjoy so we can see the personality come out when they perform

In the end, it was Pearl and Ruby Day who were determined to be the most identical twins. But that's just what the judges say.

Ruby Day/Contestant:

You're a bit better at singing.

Pearl Day/Contestant:

Yeah. I am bit better at singing. So I would sing and she just mimes.

When I do singing things, she says 'I can just stand there and mime'. But other than that we are really the same. It's the only difference I can see.

And for the other 29 sets of twins, its probably a safe bet that they have their own differences, ones that only they can point out.

저희는 눈이나 코, 입이 정확히 일치하는지 그저 정적인 얼굴을 봅니다. 그러나 저희가 실제로 쌍둥이들과 접촉할 때는 정서를 보려고 합니다. 이들이 똑같은 방식으로 감정을 표현하거나 아니면 똑같은 방식으로 입을 움직이든지 말입니다. 얼굴의 동적인 모습이 매우 중요합니다.

이곳 모임은 일종의 탤런트 선발입니다. 쌍둥이들은 앞으로 다가올 광고 활동에 누가 알맞은 얼굴들인지를 정하기 위해 경쟁할 것입니다. 그리고 아무리 작은 차이점에도 불구하고 이들 대부분의 쌍둥이들은 자신들이 아주 똑같다고 말합니다.

소피 더니앰/출전자:
좀 이상하죠. 저희는 나름대로 상당히 뚜렷한 모습을 갖고 있지만 정말로 둘 다 똑같은 것들을 좋아해요.

폴리 더니앰/출전자:
저희는 같은 옷을 좋아하고 같은 음악도 좋아해요.

소피 더니앰:
제가 이런 머리 모양을 좋아하니까 너는 이런 머리 모양을 해야 한다는 식이 아니에요. 둘 다 같은 모리 모양을 좋아하죠. 그래서 어쨌든 같은 머리 모양을 하고 있죠. 그래서 아주 잘 되고 있는 것 같아요.

우승자들을 고르는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 그래서 안무가 존 그레이엄은 쌍둥이들이 그냥 자유롭게 움직이고 자연스럽게 행동하기를 바랍니다.

존 그레이엄/안무가:
대부분이 마치 동작 일치 같은 것입니다. 저희는 춤을 단순하게 추게 할 겁니다. 쌍둥이들에게 춤에 대해 너무 힘들게 생각하지 않게 하고 싶으니까요. 그리고 바라건대 그냥 즐기세요. 그래야 이들이 공연할 때 성격이 드러나는 것을 저희가 볼 수 있으니까요.

결국, 가장 똑같은 쌍둥이로 결정된 이들은 펄 데이와 루비 데이였습니다. 그러나 그것은 심사위원들의 견해일 뿐입니다.

루비 데이/출전자:
저 아이가 노래를 좀 더 잘하죠.

펄 데이/출전자:
그래요. 제가 노래를 좀 더 잘하죠. 그래서 제가 노래하고 쟤는 흉내만 내죠. 제가 노래를 할 때 쟤는 ‘난 그냥 여기 서서 흉내 낼게.’라고 합니다. 그러나 이것 말고 저희는 정말로 같습니다. 그것이 제가 알 수 있는 유일한 차이점이죠.

그리고 나머지 29쌍의 쌍둥이들에게 확실한 것은 이들에게 자신들만의 차이점이 있다는 것입니다. 자신들만이 지적할 수 있는 그런 차이점들이죠.
